Welcome to My Blog

Thank you, for taking the time to read my Professional Reading blog. I started my education career in 1994 in Guam, relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003, then finally relocated to Naples, Florida in 2011; where I've set my roots with my family. Teaching is what I want to continue to do, and despite the changes in education, I have no regrets in the profession I have chosen. From teaching students to providing professional development ideas to my colleagues my career path is worth every waking moment both consciously and subconsciously thinking of ways to impact those who cross my path of enlightenment.

As a teacher, I've come a long way because my purpose is to TEACH students. I've evolve as a professional educator--knowing when to ask for help, where to seek help, and accepting that I must continuously become a better TEACHER for my STUDENTS and my COLLEAGUES. For me, Teaching is the "ART" (process, thinking, planning, and implementation of what needs to be learned) with shareholders being the "MEDIUM," teachers the "CANVAS" that holds and brings everything together, and students the finish "MASTERPIECE."

What I enjoy about teaching is having students connect with the VALUE of READING AND WRITING. Getting them to understand that reading and writing are inter-dependent--SYMBIOTIC relationship--creating readers who embrace reading and writing as a continuous life-long quest. When I have students desiring to come into my "GATOR-TIME" without being instructed, I know that I empowered them to take responsibility of their learning especially when I've found that "perfect" author who hooks them to read, read, read, and JUST READ... That smile on my students' face and eagerness to check-out my adolescent literature library of books are all worthy the money I spent to reach their interest
